I hope shes’s wearing sunscreen…

Festival Season is among us! Now if you’re like me, that means countless hours of planning exactly what you’re going to take for the drive, your outfits/makeup, and for things you might need during the festival itself. If I accidentally leave an item behind that was essential to my routine, I have a brief breakdown where my entire weekend is ruined. That is, until I run into a store and re-buy the item (if it’s one I can get my hands on easily). Luckily, I’ve got my event planning skills down and that hasn’t happened in quite a while.

One thing I’ve found to be helpful when packing is to have back-up travel size items of all my favorite products. You’re likely to leave something behind at the hotel or festival if you’re in a hurry to get ready. That way your full-size item stays at home and it’s not a big loss if you take the travel-size and lose it. You also save on some packing space! The wonderful thing is that almost everything you buy for skin care or make-up has a travel size counterpart sitting next to it on the aisle, or you can get a deal if it comes with it.

I try to pack the lightest I can but always end up looking like I’m leaving for the summer. So take shortcuts wherever you can, BUT when it makes sense. For example, I have quite an extensive skin care routine, but unfortunately arriving back at the hotel in the middle of the night and waking up at the crack of dawn to get ready the next day don’t exactly sound like a happy or healthy combination. Therefore, I keep some make-up remover wipes handy so that I can wipe away as soon as I walk through the hotel door. It’s much easier for me than carrying a bottle of micellar (but there is one available here if you must) and cotton pads, when I can just take my Epielle Micellar Cleansing Tissues and save space for more important items. I also carry my Foaming Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser because it gives me a deep enough clean without over drying my skin like an exfoliator. I’ve realized that exfoliating after a long day of being in the sun may irritate my skin further. Yet this powerful little cleanser removes any residue my wipes didn’t get. I then add any treatments to address any skin care concerns, and make sure to moisturize! Your skin needs to stay hydrated after a day of it drying out in the sun. Remember ladies, just because you sweated or felt oily, does not mean your skin is fully nourished. It may be a sign of dryness that is causing the overproduction of oil.

My last piece of advice, and I know it’s one you’ve heard a million times over, is WEAR SUNSCREEN. But not just on your face. If you’re outfit exposes more skin than usual, slather on the sunscreen! You can use a BB cream (like this one that also contains SPF) for your face, but you should have a good sunscreen to cover larger areas of your body. Remember, there are sunscreens out there that won’t give you that blue tint or have that funky smell. Find what works for you and USE IT! With all that said, the most important thing is to take care of yourself, WHILE YOU HAVE FUN! Happy Festival Season!
